Hiking in the Bernese Oberland: Bachalpsee
On this trip we dumped our predecided agenda and chose to do non-touristy stuff. Step one was booking a room and backpacking to the idyllic settings of the Swiss village of Grindelwald. Surrounded by the beautiful peaks of Eiger, Faulhorn, Schwarzhorn, Wellhorn, Wetterhorn, Schreckhorn, Lauteraarhorn, Agassizhorn, Fiescherhorn, Mönch, Lauberhorn and Männlichen, the view is breathtaking.
The village is idyllic and these colourful flowers make it look charming
The wooden houses are so tastefully carved
The Eiger is the most prominent peak
As the sun set, these was a blush on the cheeks of these mountains. What a stunning sight!
After a hearty breakfast, we decided to go to Grindelwald First which is the one stop for adventure. We decide to hike to Lake Bachalpsee. The board says 50 minutes and I am lured into the hike. We undertook an 8 km hike through the Swiss Alps, which made me huff and puff. But the reward at the end of the hike- the enchanting sight of the twin lakes of Bachalpsee- made all that exertion worthwhile. The lake is located at an elevation of 2,265 m above sea level.
Have a look at some of our pictures from the Bernese Oberland.
The cow bells ring constantly and remind you of DDLJ.
Not aware that all this makeup is going to vanish in the blazing heatThe view from Grindelwald First
Here I am tired and exhausted and I see this guy walking with a baby! Amazing!
