Burning my bridges

Gulp down that poison
Close your eyes.
Shut your ears.
Feel nothing.
Ignore this.
Don’t react.
Be human again.

Find your voice.
Speak up.
Protest.
Question.
Respond.
You are intolerant.

The bitterness bursts
And falls over the brim.
Hatred seeps and stains
What remains of us.
Fear has permeated
And ended this bond too.

I don’t belong here
I cannot belong here
I’d rather walk away
Burning my bridges behind me
Forever.
Without regret.
